Last month, an article from The Guardian described some alarming reports from employees at Delta Airlines. About a year ago, the airline introduced a new style of purple uniforms for all flight attendants manufactured by Land’s End. There have been several accounts of otherwise healthy employees developing rashes, shortness of breath, and fluid in their lungs after wearing these new uniforms.
While doctors have not been able to determine a specific cause, many doctors have pointed to the uniform’s formaldehyde and Teflon chemical finishing (which make them stain resistant and durable), according to the report. Some doctors have even advised flight attendants to carry an Epi-pen with them during long flights.
This alarming report is yet another reason and example that a Healthy Home includes more than just your walls and floors. A true Healthy Home takes every item coming into their home into consideration. This includes but is certainly not limited to clothing, bedding, carpeting, furniture, appliances, pets, and more!
